Dr. Tamara Small
Candidate for Butler County Commissioner
I'm honored to be a candidate for Butler County Commissioner. My life has been a journey of resilience and hard work. From growing up in a poor neighborhood to becoming a teen mother, I've faced challenges head-on. I worked my way through nursing school and became a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Later, my career took a different pathway, I became the primary caregiver for my mother, who passed away due to complications from a preventable disease. As a family member taking care of a loved one, my mother and I experienced firsthand a broken healthcare system that works for some but not others. Her struggle to access healthcare inspired me to advocate for change.
Driven by a desire to make a difference, I earned a Ph.D., focusing on the safety and health of vulnerable worker populations. My research soon became the catalyst for becoming an entrepreneur. Nationally, my devotion to public service and leadership is evident by my commitment to serve as a council member for The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
That same commitment extends to public service in my community. As county commissioner, I will invest in economic and workforce development, prioritize public safety, and expand access to mental health and addiction recovery services. Together, We Can Build a Better Butler County That Works For Everyone. I ask for your vote, support, and partnership in creating a brighter future for Butler County.
